Ashlyn Krueger vs Amanda Anisimova prediction

Ashlyn Krueger last featured in Philadelphia, losing in the second-round to Julia Grabher in straight sets. The American has struggled for results ever since her impressive run to the round-of-16 at Wimbledon. Krueger is ranked outside the world’s top 60 in the rankings, but she will hope to spring an upset in her first-round match. 

She faces Amanda Anisimova. The 25-year-old advanced to the final of this event last year, losing to world number one Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets. It’s been a difficult season at times for Anisimova, but she did reach the quarter-finals in Cincinnati last time out, falling to yet another defeat to Jessica Pegula in three sets. 

Anisimova is a very dangerous player on this surface, and she has significantly more experience at the business end of Grand Slams. She also has the greater weight of shot from the baseline, and if she finds her range early, she may just be able to put Krueger under sustained pressure.
