Aryna Sabalenka is clearly fired up in Cincinnati this week largely due to her recent form, but also due to the fact that Elena Rybakina is hot on her heels in pursuit of world number one status.
Sabalenka dismissed Xinyu Wang with relative ease on Tuesday night, dropping just four games on the way to a straight-sets victory.
That win has earned her a clash with unseeded Sarah Bejlek who she has never met before on the WTA Tour.
Bejlek has already beaten two seeds to reach this stage as she has successive wins over Barbora Krejcikova and Ekaterina Alexandrova.
The 20-year-old Czech has done incredibly well to grind her way through those encounters but this will be a totally different challenge. She started slow last time out and lost the first set, she simply will not be able to ease up at all against Sabalenka and even then it will likely not be enough.
