Aryna Sabalenka vs Rebeka Masarova prediction
Rebeka Masarova has yet to break the WTA top 50 in women’s singles across her career so far, the former French Open Junior champion perhaps not quite yet fulfilling the prodigious talent we saw from the 26-year-old back in her youth. Twice she has made it to the second round of the US Open but to do this year would represent her biggest achievement.
Having failed to win a Grand Slam so far this year, Aryna Sabalenka will be on a mission in Queens. She’s reached at least the semi-finals in each of the last four years, winning the tournament outright in 2024. Sabalenka’s game is extremely well suited to the hard courts of Flushing Meadows, as her powerful striking really shines through on this surface.
Understandably, Sabalenka is the heavy favourite against Masarova and the reality is that it would be a big shock if the defending US Open champion didn’t win this match in straight sets. Even if she isn’t at her best.
