Aryna Sabalenka vs Iga Swiatek prediction
Iga Swiatek’s bid to become the first woman in the Open era to lift four French Open titles in a row will face its sternest test yet against world number one Aryna Sabalenka.
The Pole stretched her winning run at the tournament to 26 matches with an impressive 6-1 7-5 victory over Elina Svitolina to confirm a 13th career meeting with the Belarusian.
Sabalenka reached her second Roland-Garros semi-final with a solid 7-6 6-3 success over Olympic Gold medallist Qinwen Zheng.
The top seed has had an excellent 2025 so far and arrived in Paris as the favourite with many observers, particularly given Swiatek’s dip in confidence that has led to questions over her Queen of Clay status.
However, the fifth seed has only ever lost two matches at this tournament and has slowly built up her level in time to face a key rival in the quest for majors.
Swiatek also leads the head-to-head 8-4 and 5-1 on clay, while Sabalenka triumphed 6-3 6-3 the last time they faced off in the Cincinnati semi-finals last year.
Swiatek’s spin game will be tough to handle for Sabalenka on the dirt, where the Belarusian’s greater power is less devastating and not as effective. However, the four-time champion is not finding the lines with same unerring accuracy as in previous years.
This could be the statement win to show the world Sabalenka is ready to conquer all surfaces, but if Swiatek is going to defeat the top seed anywhere at present, it will be here.
