Aryna Sabalenka vs Elena Rybakina prediction

Aryna Sabalenka reached a fourth straight US Open final after producing an impressive performance to defeat Jessica Pegula in straight sets. Sabalenka was tested during a tight opening set but found another gear at the crucial moment, before taking control in the second to complete a 7-5 6-2 victory. She is now just one victory from becoming the first player since Serena Williams to win three titles in a row at Flushing Meadows.

She will face Elena Rybakina. The 27-year-old, who secured the world number one ranking after her quarter-final victory, came from a set down to beat Coco Gauff in front of a partisan crowd. Rybakina remained composed after Gauff made the stronger start and gradually imposed her power, winning 3-6 6-4 6-4.

Sabalenka leads the head-to-head 10-7 and 7-5 on outdoor hard court. This will be the third Grand Slam final between the pair, with Sabalenka winning their first at the 2023 Australian Open before Rybakina gained revenge in Melbourne three years later at the start of this season. Sabalenka has since gained the upper hand, winning their two most recent meetings at Indian Wells and Miami.

Sabalenka has been the more consistent of the two throughout the tournament and boasts an incredible record at this event, having won her last 20 matches in New York. This promises to be a fascinating contest between the current world number one and the player set to replace her at the top of the rankings, but Sabalenka may just have the edge.
