Aryna Sabalenka vs Elena Rybakina prediction
Aryna Sabalenka booked her place in the final after a hard-fought victory over Amanda Anisimova in the last four. The world number one broke twice in the first set to comfortably take the lead, but Anisimova hit back by reeling off the first four games of the second as the match went to a decider. Sabalenka applied the necessary pressure towards the end of the set, breaking twice to win 6-3 3-6 6-3 after two hours and 21 minutes.
She will now go up against Elena Rybakina after she came from a set down to beat Jessica Pegula. Pegula took the first set but Rybakina did not panic, breaking on four separate occasions in set two and three to win 4-6 6-4 6-3. She thundered down 15 aces on her way to victory.
Both of these players finished with 100% records after their group stage matches and have been the two best players at the tournament by quite a distance. Sabalenka leads the head-to-head 8-5, though Rybakina won their only match indoors after defeating the four-time Grand Slam champion in the round robin stage of this event last year.
Rybakina has ended this season incredibly strongly, winning all of her last 10 completed matches, and her strong serve and heavy baseline hitting always translate well to these quicker surfaces. Nevertheless, Sabalenka will be so determined to win this tournament for the first time after previous near misses, and may just have enough in her armoury to get the job done.
