The world number one produced a serving masterclass as she defeated the Japanese 16th seed by a 7-5 6-3 scoreline.
The Belarusian will now take on 25th seed Diana Shnaider after the Russian bagged a 6-3 3-6 6-0 win over Madison Keys.
This will be a big-hitting contest but Sabalenka will hold all of the cards in what will be their maiden meeting.
