Aryna Sabalenka vs Amanda Anisimova prediction
Aryna Sabalenka made it three wins out of three from the group stage as she defeated defending champion Coco Gauff in straight sets. Gauff had won two of the last three matches between the pair and made the stronger start here, breaking on two occasions to serve for the set. The world number one broke back and also recovered from a 3-1 deficit in the tiebreak to go in front. The failure to win the first set seemed to unsettle Gauff, as Sabalenka broke three times in the second to win 7-6 (5) 6-2.
She now faces Amanda Anisimova. The American ensured qualification for the last four as she dumped world number two Iga Swiatek out of the tournament, coming from a set down to win. Anisimova broke for the first time as Swiatek served to stay in the second set, while she controlled the decider to win 4-6 6-4 6-2.
Anisimova leads the head-to-head 6-4. This compelling rivalry has reached new heights in 2025, with Sabalenka winning in the fourth-round of the French Open, while the American notched up a victory in the semi-finals of Wimbledon. They then faced each other in the final of the US Open, with Sabalenka comfortably winning in straight sets.
These two heavy hitters could cancel each other out for large parts of the match, while both are pretty reliable on serve. Nevertheless, Sabalenka has shown a steeliness so far this week, having never lifted the title before, and she’ll be the favourite to win.
