Aryna Sabalenka vs Amanda Anisimova prediction

Aryna Sabalenka will have to overcome a significant hurdle on her quest for French Open glory in the Round of 16.

The Belarusian has been imperious throughout 2025 and has won 21 of her last 23 matches. 

The world number one was given a second-set test by Olga Danilovic but still eased to a 6-2 6-3 victory last time out. 

Next up, the three-time major winner faces 16th seed Amanda Anisimova, who has been steadily returning to her best this season. 

The American impressed in her 7-6 6-4 win over Clara Tauson and has posted some solid results on the dirt recently. 

Interestingly, Anisimova owns the head-to-head with Sabalenka 5-2, winning the first four but also triumphing 6-4 6-2 the last time they met in Toronto. 

The 16th seed leads 3-1 on clay and notably won 6-4 6-2 on her way to the semi-finals at the French Open back in 2019.

Sabalenka is obviously a much stronger player nowadays, but Anisimova is arguably one of the few players who can match-up with her power. 

The top seed will undoubtedly face a key hurdle here and the shock can’t be ruled out. She will be a heavy favourite with the bookies, but if Anisimova hits her stride she has proved she is more than capable of winning and there may be value in exploring the odds for it going three.
