Arthur Gea vs Jakub Mensik prediction

Arthur Gea continued his impressive season with a win over US Open finalist Ben Shelton in straight sets at the Shanghai Masters. The Frenchman, who was ranked outside the world’s top 200 at the start of the year, advanced to the round-of-16 of a Masters event for the first time in his career following a 7-6 (5) 7-6 (3) victory. He also won his first tour-level title at the Los Cabos Open during the summer.

He now faces Jakub Mensik after the Czech notched up his first ever win over Francisco Cerundolo in the previous stage of the tournament. Cerundolo had won their opening three encounters, including at the China Open last week, but Mensik outlasted the Argentine to win 6-3 3-6 6-2 on this occasion. 

Gea has performed brilliantly to reach this stage, but this is a fantastic opportunity for Mensik to advance to the latter stages of a Masters 1000 event. If he serves well, he should have too much for Gea overall.
