Arthur Gea reached his first tour-level final after a straight sets win over Coleman Wong at the Los Cabos Open. The Frenchman, who came from a set down to beat Francisco Cerundolo in the last eight, edged clear after a tight first set tiebreak and went on to win 7-6 (7) 6-3. Gea will enter the top 100 of the rankings for the first time next week.
He now faces defending champion Denis Shapovalov in the final. The Canadian extended his winning run at the event to eight matches following a hard-fought victory over 2021 winner Cameron Norrie. He recovered from dropping the second set to win 6-3 5-7 6-4.
Shapovalov has an exceptional record at this event and will be a commanding favourite to win once again, but Gea now has a 17-2 win-loss record on outdoor hard court in 2026. This should be a very competitive final between the pair.
