Arthur Fils vs Jiri Lehecka prediction
Arthur Fils made a winning return after two months out with a back injury, as he defeated 2022 champion Pablo Carreno Busta in straight sets. The Frenchman earned an early break in both as he won 6-3 6-4 to record his first ever victory in Toronto. His game seemed in good order despite the spell on the sidelines, with 33 winners and a first serve percentage that nearly amounted to 70%.
He will face Jiri Lehecka in the next round as the Czech beat Mackenzie McDonald in his second-round match. The first set went on serve, despite Lehecka missing a total of four break point opportunities in the seventh service game, but the Queen’s Club finalist dominated the tiebreak to move ahead. He then recovered from going an early break down in the second to win 7-6 6-4.
Fils leads the head-to-head 1-0, coming from a set down to beat Lehecka in the Davis Cup in the autumn last month. There are just six places separating these two in the rankings, and Fils is still on the road to recovery despite being the favourite to win. We expect this to go to three sets.
Arthur Fils vs Jiri Lehecka tip: Both players to win a set
