Arthur Fery advanced through to his second tour-level quarter-final of the season after beating Mees Rottgering in straight sets. The British number one was once again clutch when facing break points, saving six of the seven he faced on his way to a 6-3 6-3 victory. Fery also beat Cruz Hewitt in the previous round of the event.
He will now face Aleksandar Kovacevic for a place in the last four. The American produced a solid performance to defeat former world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas. Kovacevic was not broken on serve and won 86% of his points on first serve as he dominated the second set tiebreak to clinch a 6-3 7-6 (1) victory. He has not dropped a set across his three matches so far this week.
Fery is the higher ranked player, but he has been offering up opportunities on his own serve, and Kovacevic could take advantage given how solid he has been throughout the event.
