Arthur Cazuax vs Shintaro Mochizuki prediction
Arthur Cazuax heads into the Almaty Open with confidence after a strong run of form. He succeeded in qualifying for the China Open and got through to the second-round, where he would lose to Miami Open champion Jakub Mensik in three close sets. He got through to the same stage of Shanghai before another very tight loss to Cameron Norrie. Cazaux arguably deserved more from both matches and showcased his level on the Challenger Tour a week later as he won the title in Jinan, dropping just one set.
Shintaro Mochizuki also competed in that tournament and got through to the semi-finals. Prior to that, was handed a wildcard for his home event in Tokyo but lost in the first-round to three-time Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud, before failing to qualify for Shanghai.
They have played each other on two occasions, with Cazaux winning both handsomely. The Frenchman won 6-1 6-2 in the second stage of US Open qualifying two years ago and beat Mochizuki with the exact same scoreline just a few days ago in Jinan on his way to the title.
Cazaux has six wins from his last seven matches and clearly has the edge against Mochizuki when they face each other. He’s the overwhelming favourite to come through.
