THE TEAM NEWS
WIGAN WARRIORS
Head Coach: Adrian Lam
Squad: Bullock, Burgess, Clubb, Escaré, Flower, Gildart, Greenwood, Hankinson, Hardaker, Isa, Leuluai, O’Loughlin, Partington, Sammut, Sarginson, Ja. Shorrocks, Smithies, Tautai, Williams
Unavailable: Liam Farrell, Gabe Hamlin, Dom Manfredi, Tom Davies, Liam Marshall, Sam Powell
- After a superb display against Warrington in the Challenge Cup, Wigan failed to back that up as they were comfortably beaten by Catalans as they face the Wolves again but in league action this time.
- Wigan lost Joe Greenwood with a knee injury last week but head coach Adrian Lam has named him in his 19-man squad with him seemingly overcoming that knock to be able to line up in the second row.
- Jarrod Sammut returns for the first time since the beginning of April to give Wigan more options in the halves with Jake Shorrocks also back in the 19 with Oliver Partington with Liam Marshall and Sam Powell dropping out through knocks whilst Romain Navarrete has been dropped.
WARRINGTON WOLVES
Head Coach: Steve Price
Squad: Akauola, Austin, Charnley, D. Clark, J. Clark, Cooper, Currie, Davis, Goodwin, Hill, Hughes, King, Lineham, Livett, Mamo, Murdoch-Masila, Patton, Philbin, Walker
Unavailable: Kevin Brown, Stefan Ratchford, Ryan Atkins, Ben Westwood
- Warrington could not get the better of Hull last week as the Wolves became frustrated with FC's defence and made numerous errors as they fell further behind league leaders St. Helens.
- Declan Patton's place in the side is in doubt after he was hooked during the game with Hull and that could cause a reshuffle in the backs but he could be given a reprieve after fullback Stefan Ratchford suffered a shoulder injury that will rule him out for at least three months.
- Ben Westwood and Ryan Atkins also suffered injuries last week so will miss out here whilst Lama Tasi drops out of the 19 but Harvey Livett could earn a recall after he was named in the initial squad along with Tom Lineham, Jake Mamo and Matt Davis after the trio overcame injury issues.
THE PREDICTION
Wigan missed out on a great opportunity to put themselves right in the mix for a top 5 spot but Catalans proved too good for them at the Camp Nou. They now face a Warrington side that knocked them out of the Cup recently and the same result is likely again here. Warrington will have a new-look backline this week with injuries causing a reshuffle but they should still have too much for the Warriors who looked very poor again last week.
