THE TEAM NEWS
GHANA
- Ghana secured top spot in Group F of the Africa Cup of Nations as they defeated Guinea-Bissau in their final group game to usurp Cameroon by virtue of scoring a greater number of goals.
- The 2-0 win thanks to second half goals from Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey was enough for the Ghanaians to finish on five points but their superior scoring record saw them advance as group winners.
- Ghana have suffered a blow with the news that winger Christian Atsu is out for the rest of the tournament but there is some better news on the injury front with Thomas Agyepong potentially available for this contest after sitting out the game with Guinea-Bissau.
TUNISIA
- Tunisia only managed a draw with Mauritania but their third consecutive stalemate of the Africa Cup of Nations was enough for them to finish as runners-up in Group E with their three points the lowest total of any side to end up in second place.
- After two poor showings against Mali and Angola, Tunisia made it a hat-trick of disappointing efforts as they failed to find a way past Mauritania with their lack of form a real concern heading into the knockout stages.
- Despite not losing any of their games, the fact they have not won any yet will be of greater concern and with numerous players failing to perform, changes could be afoot in their last 16 clash.
THE PREDICTION
Ghana and Tunisia both progressed to the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations but were underwhelming in the group stages. Neither side lost a game but they also only won one between them with Ghana snatching a win in their final game to top their group. Tunisia came into the tournament as the second-highest ranked side but have failed to live up to that hype and could be set for an earlier than expected exit with Ghana able to claim the victory here.
