Arantxa Rus v s Leolia Jeanjean prediction

Arantxa Rus qualified for the US Open as she came from a set down to beat Susan Bandecchi in the final stage. Rus’ best result of the season was a semi-final appearance in Manama. She is ranked just inside the top 200, having reached a career high of 41 back in August 2023. She will face Leolia Jeanjean in the first-round.

Jeanjean was handed a wildcard for the US Open. She last competed in Monterrey but lost in the first qualifying stage to Kamilla Rakhimova in three sets. Jeanjean defeated Zhu Lin to qualify for the Canadian Open, but was then beaten by Magdalena Frech in straight sets. Frech won 7-5 6-3.

Rus has at least built some momentum in New York, coming through three rounds of qualifying, but her overall season has been less convincing. The Dutchwoman remains capable of making this awkward with her left-handed game and experience, but Jeanjean can still threaten with her own game.
