Aoi Ito vs Madison Keys prediction
Coming off the back of a quarter-final finish in Montreal, Madison Keys started slowly against Eva Lys in her first match at Cincinnati. The USA’s Australian Open winner struggled greatly in the first set, winning just one game before switching to a different gear and coming back to win 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1).
Keys’ quality play in the clutch was evident vs the German Lys, especially in the third-set tie-break. This should bode well for her moving forward. She’s clearly now adapted to conditions in this tournament and is not expected to start as slowly as she did in the last round. Qualifier Aoi Ito has played four matches already with two of those going the distance, including most recently against 27th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
Keys though, provided she can replicate the sort of tennis shown in the latter two sets against Lys should wind up too good for Ito and get the better of the 21-year-old here.
