The 22-year-old is ranked outside the world’s top 230, while she also has 18 losses from 29 matches this season. Ito also qualified in Athens last month, but lost in the first-round. She was ranked 82 in the world less than a year ago.
Her first-round opponent is Katherine Sebov, as the Canadian secured a wildcard at her home event. Sebov won both of her qualifying matches in Memphis last week, losing in the first-round against Elvina Kalieva. Sebov is searching for her first tour-level win of the season, but she did advance to the final of a lower-level event earlier in the year.
