Anna Kalinskaya vs Emma Raducanu prediction
Anna Kalinskaya continued her resurgence in Washington as she defeated fourth seed Clara Tauson in straight sets. The first set was pretty straight-forward for Kalinskaya and she broke again for the fifth time to serve for the match in the second. Tauson broke back, but the Russian was not to be denied as she completed a 6-3 7-5 win. This was a strong, aggressive display from Kalinskaya who was deft at the net and very solid on her backhand side in particular. She’s not dropped a set yet this week.
Emma Raducanu has also not dropped a set as she sealed a fourth semi-final appearance of her career with a straight sets win over Maria Sakkari. The Briton had to dig deep in sweltering conditions as she recovered from an early break down to win the first set. She then staged a wonderful comeback in the second from 5-2 down to reel off five straight games and seal a 6-4 7-5 victory after two hours and ten minutes.
There’s just two places separating these two in the rankings and Kalinskaya is enjoying the most impressive week of her season so far. Nevertheless, Raducanu is well suited to these faster courts in Washington and is finding a way to win. She’s kept up the momentum from her strong performances at Wimbledon and we give her the nod to reach her first final since that US Open triumph in 2021.
