Anna Kalinskaya vs Clara Tauson prediction

Anna Kalinskaya reached her fourth quarter-final of the season after comfortably beating Magda Linette 6-4 6-0 in the round-of-16. The Russian won nine matches in a row against the eighth seed and wasn’t broken on serve as she sealed an extremely dominant win. Kalinskaya has struggled in recent times but she now has consecutive wins for the first time since Strasbourg in the middle of May and hasn’t dropped a set in Washington far.

She will now go up against fourth seed Clara Tauson in the last eight. Tauson began her campaign with a battling victory over Caroline Dolehide, coming from a set down to win. The 22-year-old was pegged back in set two and three after going a break up in both but still came through to win 3-6 7-5 6-4. 

The head-to-head is 1-1 but this will be their first contest on a hard court. Kalinskaya defeated Tauson in Rome last year, but the Dane won their match at Wimbledon earlier this month in straight sets. Kalinskaya is likely to put up more of a challenge in this one and it may go the distance.
