Anna Blinkova vs Maya Joint prediction
Anna Blinkova defeated 2024 Wimbledon quarter-finalist Lulu Sun 6-3 6-3 to book her place in the quarter-finals of Eastbourne. The Russian went a break down early in the second set but responded brilliantly by winning six of the next seven service games to make the quarter-final of a tournament for the first time since the ATX Open in early March.
Her opponent will be Maya Joint after she defeated home favourite Emma Raducanu in a dramatic encounter. Raducanu took the first set but Joint came roaring back in the second and then went a double break up in the third as she raced ahead to what looked like a certain win. However, Joint failed to serve the match out on three separate occasions as the British number one forced a deciding tiebreak. Nevertheless, the Australian held her nerve to still win the match, thundering down an ace to win 4-6 6-1 7-6.
Blinkova now has four wins on the surface over the past few weeks but Joint has now picked up victories over Jabeur and Raducanu in this tournament, two previous Grand Slam finalists. There’s little to separate these two.
