Ann Li defeated Ashlyn Krueger and Belinda Bencic to advance to the round-of-16 at the China Open, where she was then beaten by Elina Svitolina. That was her joint-best WTA 1000 result of the campaign, with Li also reaching a couple of semi-finals in Strasbourg and Monterrey. Li will hope for a strong end to the season and faces Camila Osorio in Wuhan.

Osorio enters the main draw as a lucky loser, following her defeat in qualifying to Katie Volynets. The Colombian won a WTA 125 title at the Philippines Open earlier this year, though she has just one tour-level quarter-final to her name in 2026.

Li leads the head-to-head 4-2 and has won the last three meetings. They have already played each other twice this year, with the 26-year-old winning their matches at the Australian Open and Monterrey Open. She will be expected to come through with the victory once more.
