Andrey Rublev vs Roman Safiullin prediction

Andrey Rublev decided to compete in Halle last week but his campaign was short-lived as he lost 6-2 6-2 to former champion Hubert Hurkacz. The Russian struggled to deal with the strong serving from Hurkacz, but he will hope for a far deeper run at Wimbledon, having reached the quarter-final stage back in 2023. Rublev performed well here last year, advancing to the round-of-16 and pushing Carlos Alcaraz to four sets in their match.

He will play Roman Safiullin in round one. He qualified for this event after three straight wins and also reached the quarter-finals in Nottingham on the Challenger Tour. Overall, he has six victories from nine matches on grass this season. Furthermore, he is capable of a deep run at the All England Club, having also got through to the quarter-finals three years ago. Safiullin has won two lower-level titles this season.

This is not the easiest of first-round matches for Rublev. Safiullin should be able to make this a competitive encounter, but the Russian is still a firm favourite.

Andrey Rublev vs Roman Safiullin tip: Over 38.5 games
