Andrey Rublev vs Lorenzo Sonego prediction
Andrey Rublev recorded the 250th hard court win of his career in the second-round of the Canadian Open as he defeated Hugo Gaston 6-2 6-3. Rublev has struggled in his past two events on the surface but this was a much improved display, as he converted four of his six break points and won 70% of his points at the net.
Lorenzo Sonego is his third-round opponent as the Italian beat Younchaokete Bu 6-1 6-4. It was an aggressive performance from Sonego, with 22 winners compared to Bu’s four, while he also won 79% of his first serve points.
The head-to-head is locked at 2-2 and they’ve never played against each other in an outdoor hard event, though Rublev has won both of their matches indoors, most recently in Metz last year. The Russian will be a favourite to register a third victory over Sonego and make it through to the round-of-16.
