Andrey Rublev vs Hugo Gaston prediction
Andrey Rublev has disappointed in his first two tournaments since Wimbledon. He kicked off the North American summer swing in Los Cabos as the top seed but struggled to produce strong performances and ended up losing in the semi-finals to Aleksander Kovacevic for the second time this season. His poor form continued in Washington as he lost early on to teenager Learner Tien in straight sets.
Hugo Gaston will be his opponent after the Frenchman got through his first-round match. He faced Mattia Bellucci and lost the first set but levelled up the match and went an early break up in the decider. Bellucci retired with Gaston leading 3-6 6-4 2-0.
Rublev seemed to have turned a corner with his performances at the All England Club but his recent displays over the last fortnight will be a concern. Despite his struggles, he should have the game to overpower Gaston and get through with minimal fuss.
