Andrea Pellegrino vs Alex Barrena prediction
28-year-old Andrea Pellegrino, ranked 126th in the world, has come through a couple of victories in qualification for the Chile Open after being beaten in the first qualifying round at the Rio Open last week. Pellegrino hasn’t made it past the first round of a full ATP event since reaching the quarter-finals of the Szczecin Open in September.
Alex Barrena was frustrated to have been beaten at his home tournament, the Argentina Open, in the first round in three sets by Vit Kopriva. Prior to that opening round loss in Buenos Aires, the 23-year-old Chile Open qualifier hadn’t played in a full tournament post-qualifying outside of the Challenger events since the Tampere Open in July.
These are two players with a rare opportunity to play a first round event, let alone get through, and it may therefore be a long match that neither want to give up on.
