Anastasia Zakharova vs Sofia Kenin prediction

Anastasia Zakharova will enter the main draw as a qualifier. She came from a set down to beat 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu in the second stage. The world number 83 also qualified for the China Open but lost in the first-round to Zhang Shuai despite taking the first set. Her best performance on the WTA was a run to the semi-finals in Cleveland two months ago, while she also won an ITF title in Zaragoza.

Sofia Kenin’s disappointing season continued in Beijing as she lost in the third-round to the in-form Jasmine Paolini. Kenin has not won consecutive matches at a tournament since making round three of Roland Garros. There have still been highlights, a final in Charleston and a WTA 1000 quarter-final in Dubai, but the last few months have been very poor by the American’s standards.

Nevertheless, Kenin will be a clear favourite to advance against the lower-ranked Zakharova.
