Anastasia Potapova recovered from a poor start to advance to the last eight at the Transylvania Open as she beat Anastasia Zakharova. Potapova lost the first four service games and went behind after the first set. She controlled the second set and was on the verge of victory as she established a 4-0 lead in the decider. Zakharova broke and won three games in a row but Potapova still went on to win 1-6 6-4 6-3.
She takes on Sorana Cirstea next. The Romanian cruised through to the last eight as she easily beat Tamara Zidansek. Both players held serve at the start, but it was one-way traffic after that as Cirstea won the next 11 games to seal a 6-1 6-0 victory.
The head-to-head is locked at 1-1 between the pair, with Potapova winning their only match indoors nearly seven years ago. Cirstea will be hopeful of capping off her final year on tour with a title, especially at home, and she will be tough to stop if she replicates her performance from the previous match.
