PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
- Philadelphia Eagles pulled off an excellent result on Sunday as they beat divisional rivals Dallas Cowboys 17-9 to leapfrog them into top spot in the NFC East and now a play-off place is firmly in their hands coming into the final week of the regular season.
- They have beaten all three divisional rivals in the last three weeks despite being without a whole host of injured regulars and they now just have to replicate their Week 14 win over the New York Giants to seal a spot in the play-offs.
- The Eagles were without RT Lane Johnson, WR Nelson Agholor and RB Jordan Howard for the Cowboys game and it is uncertain as to whether any can return for this match while key TE Zach Ertz has broken a rib and is a question mark to play although he may fight through the pain barrier for this key game.
NEW YORK GIANTS
- The New York Giants have refused to let their season peter out despite having nothing to play for as they have won their last two games against Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins to improve their record to 4-11.
- Quarterback Daniel Jones returned to action against the Redskins and completed 28 of his 42 passes for 352 yards and five touchdowns in an outstanding display, albeit against a poor Redskins defense, while running back Saquon Barkley made it four touchdowns in his last two matches and ran for 189 yards in that game.
- The Giants picked up a raft of injuries in their win over the Redskins as right tackle Mike Remmers suffered a concussion and inside linebacker Alec Ogletree picked up a back injury in the first defensive series and did not return, while WR Darius Slayton, CBs DeAndre Baker and Sam Beal all collected injuries of their own so they have a handful of doubts coming into this season finale.
THE PREDICTION
The Eagles have fought back into play-off contention and they are now in pole position to win their division after beating the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16. They are heavily favoured to beat New York Giants who are 4-11 for the season but have won their last two games and shown good fight. QB Daniel Jones and RB Saquon Barkley are in great form but they face an upgrade in opponent in the Eagles who will be fired up for this one. While the Eagles are somewhat injury hit, the Giants have a number of question marks themselves this week, and ultimately the desire and quality of the Eagles will see them canter to victory.
