Amanda Anisimova vs Coco Gauff prediction
Amanda Anismova advanced to the semi-finals of the China Open after a thrilling three set victory over Jasmine Paolini. The American served for the first set at 5-4 but Paolini broke back and took the set on a tiebreak. She responded superbly by winning the first four games of the second and forcing a decider. Breaks were exchanged at the start of the third set, but Anisimova gained the crucial advantage in the ninth game and served it out to win 6-7 6-3 6-4 after two hours and 47 minutes. Anisimova struck 50 winners overall.
She will now face compatriot and defending champion Coco Gauff for a place in the final. The two-time Grand Slam singles champion ended Eva Lys’ brilliant run with a straight sets victory. Lys still challenged Gauff at points, but it was still a solid all-round performance from the American who is just two matches away from defending her title in Beijing.
The head-to-head is 1-1, but they have not faced other for over three years and this is their first match on a hard court. Anisimova will be the aggressor at the start but Gauff is so difficult to beat and may just outlast her opponent over three sets with her exceptional defensive game.
