Alina Korneeva vs Yulia Putintseva prediction

Alina Korneeva qualified for the Guangzhou Open and will make her first appearance on the WTA Tour this season. She came from a set down to beat Talia Gibson and then went on to beat Tatiana Prozorova in comfortable fashion. The 18-year-old was forced to miss seven months of the season due to a wrist injury and will hope to get some wins together before the end of the campaign.

It’s been a tough year for Yulia Putintseva and she is without back-to-back wins on the WTA Tour since getting through to the third-round of the French Open. She reached her highest ever ranking of 20 right at the start of the year but is now down at 76. She began the season strongly with a semi-final appearance in Adelaide, but results have been largely negative after that.

She may her work cut out against Korneeva, who will be raring to go at a WTA tournament after such a frustrating time out. This could go to three sets.
