Alexei Popyrin’s losing run stretched to four matches in Paris as he was defeated by Alexander Bublik in straight sets. The Australian last won a match in round one of the US Open and his ranking has now fallen to 47 in the world. He has failed to get past the quarter-final of any event this season and has a negative win-loss record for 2025. Nevertheless, he has still shown flashes of class, having reached the last eight in Monte-Carlo and Toronto.
He faces Sebastian Korda here. Korda qualified for the Paris Masters but also failed to make it past the first-round after a defeat to Lorenzo Sonego.
