Alexei Popyrin vs Roman Andres Burruchaga prediction
Alexei Popyrin will hope it’s lucky number seven in his first meeting with Roman Andres Burruchaga.
The Aussie has lost his last six matches and is now back outside the top 100.
In contrast, Argentine, Burruchaga is having a breakthrough season and - at 58 in the world - will have designs on the top 50 for the first time.
The South American’s form has been excellent with deep runs in Umag and Estoril, but this will be an interesting test of his hardcourt credentials given he has yet to win an ATP main draw match on the surface.
Popyrin remains an enigma in that he has the perfect game for these conditions and proved that back in 2024 when he won this title. Perhaps there’s nostalgia attached to what he was producing back then, but that sways us into thinking he can produce the upset here.
