Alexandre Muller vs Marcos Giron prediction

Alexandre Muller failed to defend his title in Hong Kong as he lost in the second-round. He did win his match in round one against Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets, but he would then lose to Marcos Giron, his first-round opponent in Auckland.

Giron beat Muller after getting past Laslo Djere in round one. The American then continued his strong run at his first tournament of the year as he defeated compatriot Michael Mmoh, with Mmoh retiring in the second set. He took the first set against Alexander Bublik in the semi-final, but the Kazakhstani would come back to win. Giron’s wait for a first ATP final since July 2024 goes on, but there were encouraging signs for him at the event.

Despite Giron winning their match last week in straight sets, it was anything but straight-forward. Muller broke at the start of the match in the first set and served for the second at 5-4 up. There is little to separate the pair, and this could head into three sets this time.
