Alexandre Muller vs Lorenzo Musetti prediction
Alexander Muller dug in to make his first quarter-final on the ATP Tour since May with a three set win over Tomas Martin Etcheverry. There were only two breaks of serve in the whole match and the Frenchman was forced to save a match point when serving to stay in the encounter deep in the second set. He won 6-7 (2) 7-6 (4) 7-6 (3) and now goes up against second seed Lorenzo Musetti.
Musetti overcame a spirited performance from three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka to keep alive his chances of qualifying for the World Tour Finals. Wawrinka served strongly throughout and took the first set, though Musetti dug in to level the match in the second set tiebreak and broke early in the decider to win 4-6 7-6 (5) 6-4. He has to win the tournament to secure his place in the Tour Finals.
Muller leads the head-to-head 1-0 after beating Musetti in Marrakech two years ago. The pressure is on the Italian this week and Muller is unlikely to make it easy for him. Nevertheless, he’s still a quality player and he’ll be a firm favourite.
