Alexandra Eala produced a brilliant performance in the quarter-finals as she beat Dayana Yastremska 6-1 6-2 to make the last four of a grass court tournament for the first time. The 20-year-old broke the Ukrainian’s serve on seven separate occasions and is now into her second WTA Tour semi-final after her superb run in Miami two months ago.

She will face Varvara Gracheva for a place in the final. Gracheva made it through after defending Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova withdrew from their semi-final hours before it was due to take place because of injury.

These two faced each other for the first time just last week during the qualifying stages of the Nottingham Open. Eala defeated Gracheva 6-3 3-6 6-3. The youngster may hold the psychological edge and has found some form after a poor stretch during the clay season. She will be desperate to reach a first tour-level final and we're backing her to do so.
