A second meeting between two rising stars of women’s tennis will take place in Doha.
Tereza Valentova continued her charge up the rankings at the end of last season with a run to the third round at the Australian Open, where she was only beaten by eventual champion Elena Rybakina.
The 18-year-old is already up to a career high of 43 in the world and will be confident of repeating the win that saw her defeat Alexandra Eala 6-1 6-2 in Osaka back in October.
Eala now sits a place below Valentova in the rankings having been over 20 spots better off on the WTA ladder for that maiden showdown.
The Filipino has reached three quarter-finals this year but fell at the first hurdle in Melbourne.
This should be a closer contest second time around but we still feel Valentova will dominate most of the exchanges and extinguish Eala’s desire to exact some revenge for that humbling loss in Japan.
