Not so long ago Katie Boulter would have been the favourite against Alexandra Eala.

The Brit’s poor run of form in the mid-late part of 2025 has seen her tumble down the rankings and she now sits 10 places below the youngster on the WTA ladder.

Eala is up to a career high of 53 but has lost her last four having previously won 12 from 14 outings. 

Boulter’s surprise win over Linda Noskova in Osaka has not been the springboard she was hoping for and if Eala can neutralise the Brit’s hefty first serve, she should have the variety and speed to outgun her opponent.
