Alexandra Eala vs Elise Mertens prediction

Alexandra Eala performed strongly at the German Open, winning three matches in a row to advance all the way to the semi-finals. The Filipino defeated Queen’s Club champion Donna Vekic in the first-round, before pulling off an upset as she beat world number two Elena Rybakina. Eala continued her run with a win over Elina Svitolina, but she was unable to make the final after a defeat to Linda Noskova.

She will now compete at the Bad Homburg Open, and faces Elise Mertens in her first-round match. Mertens failed to retain her title at the Libema Open as she lost to Elena-Gabriela Ruse in a rematch of the final from the previous year. She could only manage a round-of-16 appearance in Berlin and is still yet to reach the quarter-finals of a WTA tournament in 2026.

If Eala can recapture the level she showed last week, Mertens will be in trouble.
