Alexander Zverev vs Quentin Halys prediction
Alexander Zverev began his campaign in Shanghai with a straight sets win over Wu Yibing. The German, who is set to replace Jannik Sinner as the world number one in the upcoming weeks, only conceded the one break point and was largely untroubled throughout, winning 6-4 7-6 (4). Zverev is aiming to win this event for the first time, having lost in the final to Daniil Medvedev back in 2019.
He plays Quentin Halys next. The Frenchman was impressive again, coming from a set down and saving two match points to beat Alexander Blockx. Halys kept his composure in the second set tiebreak to draw level and remained consistent throughout the decider to win 4-6 7-6 (9) 6-4 after two hours and eight minutes.
The pair have met three times previously, all in 2026, with Zverev winning on each occasion. They last faced each other at the US Open, with Zverev overcoming Halys in five sets, despite being just two points away from defeat at one point. The Frenchman has a strong enough game to make at least one set competitive, though Zverev remains the clear favourite.
