Alexander Zverev vs Novak Djokovic prediction
Alexander Zverev advanced through to the quarter-finals of Roland Garros after his opponent Tallon Griekspoor had to retire midway through their fourth-round match. Zverev was leading 6-4 3-0 at the time as the Dutchman struggled to cope with an abdomen injury.
He takes on Novak Djokovic after the Serbian defeated Cameron Norrie 6-2 6-3 6-2. It was a controlled performance from Djokovic, who overcame a blip at the start of the second set where he went a break down to make it through to yet another quarter-final in Paris. The 24-time Grand Slam champion is yet to face an opponent ranked inside the top 80 but still hasn’t dropped a set.
Djokovic leads the head-to-head 8-5 but it’s 1-1 on clay and they haven’t played each other on the surface since this very stage of the competition in 2019. Djokovic comfortably defeated Zverev that day 7-5 6-2 6-2.
This will likely be a very close affair considering Zverev’s capability on the surface and Djokovic’s resurgence in form, having now gone eight matches without defeat following his victory at the Geneva Open. We predict the 38-year-old, who has not lost a completed match at Roland Garros since 2022, will squeeze through.
