Alexander Zverev vs Felix Auger-Aliassime prediction

Alexander Zverev fell to a fifth consecutive defeat to Jannik Sinner despite challenging the Italian at times in their group stage match at the ATP Finals. Zverev created break point opportunities in both sets but Sinner dug in to save all seven of them. The German lost 6-4 6-3 and now needs to win against Felix Auger-Aliassime if he is to advance to the next stage of the competition.

Auger-Aliassime kept his hopes alive as he came from a set down to beat Ben Shelton. Auger-Alassime was just a few points away from potentially being eliminated but edged a tight tiebreak in the second and broke late on in the third to win 4-6 7-6 (6) 7-5. He seemed to be struggling with a calf problem in his first group stage match against Sinner, but the Canadian was moving freely throughout in this one.

Zverev leads the head-to-head 6-3 and 2-0 indoors. However, their last match was at the US Open this year, with Auger-Aliassime coming from a set down to win in round three. Auger-Aliassime proved his fitness in the last round and is one of the most accomplished indoor players. He was aggressive against Zverev at Flushing Meadows and will look to reproduce that kind of performance in Turin, in order to get the better of the German. Nevertheless, there were positives for the two-time champion to take from his match against Sinner, and his serve is a big weapon of his in these conditions.

There’s so much riding on this winner-takes-all clash, but Zverev may just have enough to seal a spot in the semi-finals.
