Alexander Zverev vs Alex de Minaur prediction

Alexander Zverev edged his way past Alexander Bublik in a tight three set match to reach the Shanghai Masters quarter-finals. Zverev, who will replace Jannik Sinner as the world number one in the next few weeks, raised his game in the deciding set tiebreak to win 7-6 (6) 4-6 7-6 (1). The two-time Grand Slam champion also saved four set points in the first set.

He will now play Alex de Minaur. The Australian continued his excellent run of form with a straight sets win over Karen Khachanov. De Minaur was in control for most of the match, winning 6-3 6-4. He only conceded the one break point opportunity across the whole encounter. Since the US Open, De Minaur has won seven of his eight matches in total.

Zverev leads the head-to-head 8-4, though De Minaur has won their last two meetings. He saved a match point and came from a set down to beat the German at the Laver Cup last month. The faster surface in Shanghai is likely to benefit Zverev when it comes to dominating on serve, though he was struggling with an ankle problem in his match against Bublik.

Alexander Zverev vs Alex de Minaur tip: Both players to win a set
