Alexander Bublik vs Tomas Machac prediction

Alexandrer Bublik’s struggles continued last time out in Beijing as he lost his opening match to Jakub Mensik. That followed up a heavy defeat to Rafael Jodar in the singles at the Laver Cup, along with a loss to Tommy Paul at the US Open. The 29-year-old’s ranking has dropped to outside the world’s top 20. His highlight of the season was right at the start of the year, with a title at the Hong Kong Open.

He received a bye in round one and now faces Tomas Machac. The Czech earned his first main draw victory since Roland Garros after a comeback win over Zhizhen Zhang. Machac, who reached the semi-finals of this event two years ago, won 1-6 7-6 (3) 6-2 after two hours and 10 minutes.

Bublik leads the head-to-head 2-0. Despite his poor form, the Kazakh will be expected to come through with the win against Machac, who has yet to find consistency since returning from injury.
