Alexander Bublik picked up one of the biggest wins of his career as he came from a set down to defeat world number one and defending champion Jannik Sinner 3-6 6-3 6-4. The Kazakhstani was very strong on serve and created opportunities with his strong hitting from the baseline and delicate touch at the net. The 2023 champion must regroup quickly as he now faces Tomas Machac for a place in the last four.

Machac comfortably beat Fabian Marozsan 6-2 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals of an event for the first time since winning the Mexican Open at the beginning of March. The Czech has struggled with injuries this season but has moved well so far this week.

They have not faced each other on a grass court but have met once before, with Bublik coming from a set down to defeat Machac in the first-round of the Dubai Tennis Championships on his way to making the final last year.
