Alexander Bublik vs Karen Khachanov prediction

Alexander Bublik backed up his win over world number one Jannik Sinner in the last round as he defeated Tomas Machac in the quarter-finals of Halle. The Kazakhstani raced to a 5-2 lead early on, but Machac fought back as the first set ended up going to a tiebreak. Bublik still took the first set and then earned an early break in the second to wrap up a 7-6 6-3 win. It was an even stronger serving performance from Bublik as he hammered down 19 aces.

He will face Karen Khachanov next. The Russian strolled to a comfortable 6-3 6-2 win over Tomas Martin Etcheverry, not even facing a break point during the match as he reached the last four of an event for the first time since the Barcelona Open two months ago. 

Their only previous meeting took place five years ago as Khachanov defeated Bublik 6-4 6-4 in the second-round of the Cincinnati Open but this will be their first match against each other on grass. 

This will be another test for Bublik but he’s in such brilliant form with seven wins from his last eight matches. He has seamlessly transitioned onto the grass and though Khachanov has also enjoyed an impressive week, it’s difficult to look past Bublik for this one.
