Alexander Bublik advanced to the second-round with a straight sets win over Roman Safiullin. The Kazakhstani recovered from going 4-1 down in the second set to win 6-4 7-6. He now takes on Casper Ruud for a place in round three.
Ruud is coming off the biggest tournament win of his career so far after his triumph at the Madrid Open. That was the 26-year-old’s first Masters 1000 title, and he dropped just one set during the entirety of the tournament.
