Alexander Bublik vs Alex de Minaur prediction

Alexander Bublik will relish the opportunity to play the villain when he locks horns with Alex de Minaur in front of the Aussie’s passionate home crowd.

The maverick Kazakhstani is currently enjoying a sustained period of success where he has produced the best tennis of his life and risen to a career high.

The tenth seed has yet to drop a set at Melbourne Park and demonstrated his maturity and growing big point know-how with a 7-6 7-6 6-4 victory over Tomas Martin Ethceverry in the third round.

Bublik has already gone further than ever before at this tournament and will now push to reach just a second Grand Slam quarter-final by extending a current seven-match winning streak with the pressure off.

That is in stark contrast to de Minaur, who carries Australia’s dreams on his shoulders and is defending points from his quarter-final charge 12 months ago.

Demon has dropped just one set so far and stood up to a big-hitting test last time out with a 6-3 6-4 7-5 triumph over Frances Tiafoe.

The sixth seed is also on a winning run of five matches and leads the head-to-head 3-2, but Bublik won both encounters in 2025 which is a better barometer of where they stand given his upward trajectory since last Spring.

There’s no doubt Bublik has the greater weapons and also some excellent variety, but de Minaur’s defence is up there with the very best given his incredible speed across the court.

It makes for an intriguing clash of styles with the home support potentially tipping it Demon's way, but their last two matches went the distance, so expect there to be ups and downs and shifts in momentum across more than three sets.

Alexander Bublik vs Alex de Minaur tip: Over 3.5 sets
