Alexander Bublik vs Alex de Minaur prediction
Alexander Bublik produced a brilliant performance to beat world number four Taylor Fritz in the round-of-16. He had lost his three previous matches against Fritz and was forced into saving four set points as he served to stay in the first set. Bublik then converted one of his own in the tiebreak to edge ahead. He dominated the second, breaking Fritz’s serve twice to win 7-6 (5) 6-2.
Alex de Minaur is his next opponent. The Australian excelled in his match against Karen Khachanov as he dismantled the Russian’s serve to win 6-2 6-2. That secures his place in the World Tour Finals next month.
He leads the head-to-head 3-1, but Bublik won their last meeting at Roland Garros this year in dramatic fashion, as he came from two sets down to win. That kickstarted a tremendous run of form for the Kazakhstani and he’ll be raring to go after that fine win against Fritz.
De Minaur will also be determined as he seeks a first Masters 1000 title, but Bublik has become such a dangerous player on tour and will make him work for it.
